Hill Climb Racing is one of my favourite racing games to kill some time. Once I delved into the game, I lost track of time as it kept me busy pursuing a high score, unlocking new vehicles and maps, and upgrading my car to improve its performance. Furthermore, I inspected every feature of the games while I was enjoying them.
Satisfying Gameplay
The game is straightforward to play. However, I find it very challenging to master, as the simple gameplay conceals a dimension of difficulty. Yet, the gameplay loop is very satisfying, and the physics-based driving kept me hooked. Also, I enjoyed the gameplay, as, despite its repetitive loop, I never found it monotonous.
Diverse Range of Vehicles
When I first played Hill Climb Racing, it only featured one vehicle: the Jeep. However, I have now discovered that the game features a diverse range of cars, each with its own functionality. Additionally, you have to unlock them by earning coins, and I love using the bike and the police car.
Different Maps
There are lots of maps in Hill Climb Racing. Upon unlocking them one by one, each map feels unique due to its distinct environment. Additionally, I found that each map introduces a new level of challenge, such as the Moon's low gravity, which contrasts with the steep hills in the hill maps, requiring the use of an appropriate vehicle.
Vehicle Upgrades
In Hill Climb Racing, you can upgrade your vehicles to make them stronger. Firstly, I noticed I was constantly crashing very quickly. Yet, when I slowly upgraded my car, I started covering more and more distance, and the loop of earning coins and using them to upgrade my vehicle is also very fulfilling.
Stellar Soundtrack
For a simple racing game, the soundtrack is very nice. Each map has its unique soundtrack, adding to the immersion of the atmosphere. Not to mention, different vehicles have distinctive sounds, and using them gave me the feeling of being in the car I was driving. Moreover, the music is simple yet sounds very stellar.
Final Note
I loved playing Hill Climb Racing, and few games have a gameplay loop as addictive as this one. Whenever I have free time, I always pull out my phone and play with it to the point where I realize hours have gone by.
